Myiti Sengstack Rice will discuss the role the Chicago Defender and its founder, Robert Abbott, played in motivating African Americans to move to cities like Chicago during the Great Northern Drive of the early 29th century. Sengstack Rice offers a unique perspective on this story as both a descendant and historian of Abbott and chairwoman of the Chicago Defender Charities. FREE
