Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH) seeks to appoint a non-tenure-track Lecturer in African American History for a 9-month appointment in the Department of History, beginning on September 1, 2021. The qualified candidate will teach courses in Race and Slavery in US History, Civil Rights in the United States in the 20th Century, the Black Radical Tradition in America, and a fourth course to be determined in consultation with the department. The teaching load of four courses will be distributed across the fall, winter, and spring quarters. There are no service expectations. This is a non-tenure track position with the possibility of renewal for a second year depending on the staffing needs of the department. The position, which requires classroom teaching, comes with a competitive salary, benefits eligibility, and travel/research funds.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or be ABD with degree in hand by September 2021) in African American History or a related field. In evaluating the applications, we will consider evidence of teaching experience and/or potential, as well as evidence of an active research program.
