2023 Annual Founder’s Birthday event: A staged reading of Charly Evon Simpson’s “Beyond the Sheet”

Directed by Freda Scott Giles, emerita professor of Theatre and Film

Featuring actors from Town and Gown Players, University of Georgia University Theatre, and the Athens community.

Capping off our 2022 Black Health and Wellness series, the play gives voice to enslaved women in 1840s Alabama who were forced to undergo experimental surgeries.
