The Global Health and Black Studies Programs invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor beginning August 2021. A Ph.D. by August 2021 in one of the following is required:
-Global Health with a specialization in Epidemiology
-Public Health with a global focus on Epidemiology
-PhD in Epidemiology with a global focus
-PhD in Biostatistics with a global health focus

This position requires an epidemiologist with a focus on African Diasporic populations whose work is both empirically rigorous and methodologically sophisticated. The candidate must show commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching and engage with undergraduate students. Examples of expertise include general epidemiology with a focus on persons of African descent, social epidemiology and critical race theory, patient-centered outcomes research, community-based participatory research, race and health research in a global context, health disparities in gender, sex, and sexuality and comparative effectiveness researchwith a focus on African diasporic populations and/or communities. The ability to teach within the interdisciplinary Global Health and Black Studies Program curricula and a strong commitment to liberal arts education are necessary. Candidates must be able to teach an epidemiology course with a lab, a Global Health methods course,  interdisciplinary introductory courses on race and Global Health, and courses pertinent to race, health, and the African Diaspora. Additionally, a successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory and upper-level elective courses that would be cross-listed in Global Health and Black Studies, and advanced courses reflecting both the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the Programs. Lastly, candidates should be able to articulate how undergraduates may contribute to their ongoing research projects and supervise undergraduate projects.

Candidates must demonstrate their contributions and/or potential to contribute to diversity through teaching, research, and/or service/leadership.  Successful candidates are expected to maintain a productive, ongoing research program and contribute to the continued growth of the Global Health and Black Studies Programs, the College, and the broader scholarly community.

The typical teaching load is 5 courses per year.  The course distribution is normally distributed equally between the Black Studies and Global Health Programs. The mentoring and guidance of the faculty member through contract renewal and the tenure process will be managed by a committee of faculty from each Program.
