The Department of History at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Public History, to commence August 16, 2022.

The teaching load is 2:2 and the successful applicant will be prepared to offer undergraduate and graduate courses in Public History and should have strong interest in supervising graduate students. Candidates are expected to have demonstrable accomplishments in the field of Public History, broadly defined. Research specialization and periodization are open.

Candidates must submit a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, and a publicly engaged writing sample (e.g., an exhibit script, historic register nomination, grant application, finding guide, podcast, or blog post) and three letters of recommendation.  Please send letters of reference directly to histsrch2@mailbox.sc.edu.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or Public History at the time of appointment. Candidates are expected to have demonstrable accomplishments in the field of Public History, broadly defined. Research specialization and periodization are open.

The Department prefers candidates with demonstrable field experience of two or more years.
