
Black Ancestors Awareness Campaign of Weston, MO Juneteenth Celebration
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the Black Ancestors Awareness Campaign(BAAC) held its 5th annual Juneteenth Heritage Jubilee Program. from 11 am -4 pm at the Weston Red Barn Farm in Weston, MO. The BAAC is an institutional member of the Greater Kansas City Black History Study Group branch of ASALH. The BAAC’s mission is “to recognize, honor and promote the lives and contributions of Weston’s resilient Black community whose labor, talent and industry resonate in historic Weston to this day.”
The event featured live jazz music, African drum and dance, “The Neighbors of Blackhawk Street” multimedia history presentation, storytelling, poetry, and art performances, a free BBQ lunch provided by the Weston Rotary Club, local vendors, an artisan market, and educational booths. The event was free and open to all ages.
We congratulate our members, Angela Hagenbach, Vincent Bell, and Joyce Johnson, for their work on this educational, entertaining, and historically significant event.
