The featured guest speaker will be Mr. Robert (Bob) King. \nMr. King’s presentation will illuminate the story of history maker\, teacher\, author\, and storyteller\, Captain Bill Pinkney III. Without the contribution of many African Americans\, who carried out the work of whalers\, anglers\, surfers\, sailors\, and more\, the world would be a very different place. Their contributions played a role in shaping various nautical communities across the world. One such contributor is Captain Bill Pinkney III\, a Chicago native\, who was the first to solo-circumnavigate the world via the Great Capes\, completing a 27\, 000-mile voyage. One of Captain Pinkney III’s favorite sayings was “The sea connects us.” \nMr. Robert (Bob) King is a retired IBM Corporation executive\, having held many different positions during his 30+ years of employment. King has served on many non-profit boards as a board member and has held leadership positions in many community organizations. \nWant to learn more?
