SUMMARY:Using Our Art to Tell Our Stories V: We Remember Fort Pillow (Faith)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”298354″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” border_color=”white” onclick=”img_link_large” img_link_target=”_blank” css=””][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=””] \n\nUsing Our Art to Tell Our Stories V: We Remember Fort Pillow (Faith) \n4/11/2026 – 5/31/2026\nThis exhibition invites visitors to experience history through the eyes\, voices\, and creativity of today’s artists. Centered on the legacy of the #FortPillowMassacre\, the show honors the #UnitedStatesColoredTroops (#USCTs)\, civilians\, and all those whose lives were impacted by the events of April 12\, 1864. \n\n  \nThe Withers Collection \nMuseum & Gallery\n333 Beale Street\nMemphis\, TN 38103\n  \nSunday: 1p – 6p\nTu – Th: 12p – 6p\nFri – Sat: 12p – 9p\n\n\nTake time to visit the Historic Withers Collection Museum & Gallery and experience “Using Our Art to Tell Our Stories V: We Remember Fort Pillow (Faith)\,” extended through May 31\, 2026. \nTo know who we are\, we must know our history. Memphis carries a powerful ancestral legacy that helped shape generations. Ernest Withers understood the importance of preserving our stories and documented many defining moments of the Civil Rights Movement. Likewise\, the powerful images of Emmett Till\, published in Jet Magazine\, helped awaken the conscience of a nation and stirred awareness throughout the world. \nJust steps away stands historic First Baptist Beale\, where Ida B. Wells used its basement to print truth and challenge injustice. Nearby\, Church Park reflects the vision of Robert Church\, who created opportunities and spaces for African Americans to gather\, prosper\, and know they too had the right to progress. \nThis exhibition is more than art—it is memory\, history\, and purpose. We honor our ancestors not only by remembering them\, but by learning from them. \n\nClick the link below to view the overview of the art show “Using Our Art to Tell Our Stories V:  We Remember Fort Pillow” \nhttps://www.facebook.com/reel/1000471392631050 \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row]
