AFRICAN HOLOCAUST “REMEMBER THEM” COMMEMORATION

October 1, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm UTC-5

The city of Richmond Virginia was the epicenter of the transatlantic slave trade. On October 1, 2019, Ezibu Muntu, Dance, Education, and Culture will commemorate the 400-year African Holocaust that began in 1619. This convocation will occur at the Farmer’s Market Plaza originally a Slave Auction Plaza. A mere half-block away is the notorious Lumpkin Slave Jail site also known as the Devils Half Acre where Africans were housed before they were sold. Slave trails lead throughout Shockoe Bottom with a slave cemetery nearby. Ezibu will consecrate this plaza, do libation and read a proclamation that October 1st will be a day of remembrance for perpetuity to “Remember Them”
