ASALH South Florida Founder’s Day Event

In honor of Founders Day, ASALH South Florida will host Dr. Maurice Hobson, author of “With Faith in God and Heart and Mind: A History of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity”, and honor local hero Florida Sen. Rosalind Osgood as a South Florida Culture Keeper.

Highlights of the Evening:

  • Keynote Address – Dr. Maurice Hobson, Associate Professor of African American Studies at Georgia State University and author of The Legend of the Black Mecca: Politics and Class in the Making of Modern Atlanta. Dr. Hobson will share an inspiring message on history, culture, and the enduring importance of Dr. Woodson’s vision.
  • Special Recognition – Dr. Rosalind Osgood, Florida State Senator and tireless advocate for Black history education and equity, will be honored for her distinguished leadership and commitment to community empowerment.

This Founders Day Celebration is an opportunity to uplift our shared history, recognize leaders making a difference today, and reaffirm our commitment to preserving and advancing the story of African Americans.
