We continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting Afro-Latino excellence with #BlackFacts. Today, we recognize Ruth de Souza, a trailblazing Afro-Brazilian actress who broke barriers in Brazilian cinema and theater. Her legacy continues to inspire across cultures. _Ruth de Souza was a pioneering Afro-Brazilian actress who broke barriers in Brazilian cinema, theater, and television, becoming one of the first Black actresses to gain national prominence. Born in 1921, she worked tirelessly to challenge racial stereotypes in the entertainment industry, portraying complex, dignified characters that defied the limited roles typically offered to Black actors.
