Please join the Carter G. Woodson Branch for their fifth Sunday African-American Cultural Awareness Program. Rev. Thomas Bowen will be the presenter. His topic will be “1965, The Year of Our Lord: A Brief History of the African American and the Vote.” The program will be on Sunday, May, 31, 2020 at 9:05AM. The Carter G. Rev. Thomas Bowen is the Minister of Social Justice and Community Outreach at Shiloh Baptist Church. He now serves with District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser as the Director of Religious Affairs for the District. This native of Lorain County, Ohio received his BA in history from Morehouse College and theological training from the Divinity School at the University of Chicago. In 1991 he became one of the youngest persons ever to be elected to the school board of Elyria, OH and was elected Vice-President of the board during his second term. He has served on many boards and held many positions in the non-profit community.
