Dr. Edna McKenzie Branch – The Date ASALH Branch And ASALH National June 20th Zoom Program

The Dr. Edna B. McKenzie Branch cordially invites all ASALH Branches and friends to an exciting engaging Zoom Program on June 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM titled: “A Snapshot of the Contributions of African American Women to Suffrage & Voting”.

The distinguished scholar, Professor Gloria J. Browne-Marshall of the Manhattan Branch of ASALH will be the lead presenter, and Betty Pickett, a Branch member and the originator of the program, will also be presenting.

An added feature to the program will be a dramatic dialogue titled: “They Need The Vote And The Vote Needs Them” which will be performed by Dr. Margaret Bristow of the Hampton Roads Branch and by college student Ebone Giles. Dr. Bristow will play Adella Hunt Logan, Ebone Giles will play Margaret Mary Washington.
Kendra Ross, who has sung with Quincy Jones, will sing the Negro National Anthem. The Rev. B. De Neice Welch, pastor of Bidwell Presbyterian Church with give the Invocation.

Our Branch historian, Alonna Carter will read the history of the Dr. Edna B. McKenzie Branch. A robust Q&A with the other Branches will follow.

The Executive Director of ASALH, Sylvia Cyrus will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the program.
