In the Spirit of Kwanzaa and Dr. Carter G. Woodson: Let the Circle Be Unbroken
In celebration of the principles of Kwanzaa and the enduring legacy of Dr. Carter G. Woodson, this program seeks to honor and preserve the living history of ASALH by engaging in intergenerational dialogue with our ASALH Elders. As part of our ongoing membership initiative, elders will be interviewed by family members who will be invited to participate in this meaningful exchange. Prior to the session, family members will prepare personal questions to ask their relative, fostering reflection, connection, and storytelling across generations.
Branch members will also guide the conversation by incorporating questions related to Dr. Woodson’s vision and the mission of ASALH, ensuring that the discussion bridges personal legacy with collective purpose. Anchored in the Kwanzaa principle of Imani (Faith)—to believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle—this program reaffirms our commitment to preserving and celebrating African American history through the voices of those who helped shape it.
