The Black History Program of M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, proudly announces the 2025 Maryland Emancipation Day Celebration, a celebration of heritage, resilience, and the forward mobility of African Americans from enslavement through emancipation and beyond.
This year’s theme, “Roads to Freedom: Honoring the Skills and Talents that Paved the Way for Progress,” highlights the cultural knowledge, skills, and talents African Americans harnessed during slavery that became powerful tools for economic growth, cultural pride, and community empowerment after emancipation.
