“Surviving the Tulsa Race Massacre: Voices of Resistance Then and Now”

Join ASALH as we reflect on the 100th Anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, Monday, June 1, 8 pm EST/ 7 pm CST on ASALH TV YouTube. Hear the voices of Tulsa survivors Dr. Olivia Hooker and Dr. John Hope Franklin. Hear Dr. John W. Franklin, who will read from, My Life and An Era, the autobiography written by his grandfather Mr. Buck C. Franklin, a practicing attorney in Tulsa at the time of the riot. Dr. Brittney Cooper will discuss the making of the History Channel Documentary, Tulsa Burning, and her contribution to its production. ASALH National President Dr. Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham will share the legal efforts in the 1920s as well as in the 21st century to secure reparations for the victims and their descendants. The program will close with a live Question and Answer session with Higginbotham moderated by Dr. Lionel Kimble, ASALH Vice President for Programs.
