Cathryn Calhoun is the Director of Education and Community Engagement at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center where she leads educational and community programming and events. Cathryn holds a BA in Psychology, with a concentration in Child Psychology,an MA in Organizational Leadership with a specialization in Community Leadership and is currently pursuing her doctorate in Education with a specialization in Organizational Leadership that will be completed in Fall of 2024. Prior to working in the performing arts, Cathryn worked as a Pre-K teacher and had various jobs in the mental health field. Cathryn was a recipient of the New Pittsburgh Courier Fab 40 under 40 award in 2019 for herwork in education and community and the 2022 recipient of the Ladies Who Lead award presented by the Professional Women’s Network. She is currently the Vice-President of the Urban League Young Professionals, Co-Chair of the DEI Committee with the Point Park Alumni AssociationBoard of Directors, Board Member at The Greenwood Planand Alumni Theater Company, and sits on the Advisory Board for the Homewood YMCA. Cathryn is also CEO of Constantly Creating, LLC, a business she has created that is dedicated to serving the community, the youth with educational programming, workshops, music, and dance classes. Cathryn has been an active Zumba Fitness Instructor since 2017 and enjoys teaching both adults and children the fundamentals of staying fit while having fun through dance. She is a body positive advocate who believes that fitness has no size and continues to share her passion for health and wellness by offering free fitness classes for the community, wellness check-ins, and is an accountability partner to all her clients and friends. She enjoys mentoring high school and college age women and hopes to establish her own mentoring program in the future.
