It is a pleasure to invite you to join the public celebration of the life and legacy of a national civil and human rights icon, Dr. Dorothy Cotton, in her adopted hometown of Ithaca, New York.
We wish to honor Dr. Cotton’s formidable legacy as the only female member of the top executive leadership of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and one of the closest associates of Dr. King, as a courageous lifelong champion of civil and human rights, educator, inspiring global and community peacebuilder, a powerful and compassionate feminist, advocate for children and disenfranchised populations, and as a cherished friend to many.
The commemorations of her life and legacy will be heralded by this public celebration taking place on Saturday, August 11, 2018, from 2-5 pm at Bailey Hall on the Cornell University campus, Ithaca.
Please let me know if you have any special needs that we may accommodate or questions about the event, which will be hosted by Cornell University, Ithaca College, the Dorothy Cotton Institute and other community partners.
