Associate Professor of African American Studies

Chicago State University seeks a full time Associate faculty member for their African American Studies program. Applicants should have a research agenda that focuses on African American Studies and the African Diaspora. We seek scholars whose research falls in one or more of the following related sub-fields, such as, but not limited to, inner-city studies, black feminism/womanism, gender and sexuality studies, film studies, visual culture, radical social movements, and black expressive culture.

Evidence of high potential in grantsmanship/collaborative research programs; evidence of innovation in developing cutting edge courses; and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various units in the University to advance the candidate’s teaching and research agenda as well as evidence of ability to collaborate with feeder institutions such as city colleges and high schools to recruit students. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds in preferred. This is a tenure track position that would begin August 1, 2020.
