The Bethel Dukes Branch is moving forward with informed discussions on the national Black History theme. On Sunday April 26 – one week from tomorrow – they will host of their FIRST Zoom presentation. 

On Sunday April 26 – the branch will have a business meeting from 2:00 p.m to 2:50 p.m. – by phone on a conference call

After the business meeting – we will end the phone conference and migrate to Zoom beginning at 3:30 p.m. This allows you to make any nature or technology transitions within the 25-30-minute window.


There are FOUR [4] steps to register for Zoom and there are computer and phone options – after you have registered. Instructions: there is a link in the announcement that takes you directly to the Zoom registration page – once you are there you need to:


  1. Fill in the registration information – name, first/last
  2. Provide an email address & password exclusive to Zoom
  3. Open your email to confirm your registration
  4. Tada – you are registered and will receive a link to the Bethel Dukes Zoom meeting

April 26 at 3:30 p.m. Dr. Wilmer J. Leon, III, will led a discussion about the film  Suppressed: The Fight to Vote  and the importance of exercising the right to vote.

Wilmer J. Leon, III is a political scientist whose primary areas of expertise are Black Politics, American Government and Public Policy.  Dr. Leon has a B.S. degree in Political Science from Hampton Institute, a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Howard University. Dr. Leon is a nationally syndicated columnist and the host of SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s “Inside The Issues with Wilmer Leon.” He is also a regular contributor to national and international television news programs, newspapers and websites. Finally, he is the author of Politics Another Perspective Commentary and Analysis on Race, War, Ethics and the American Political Landscape in the Age of Obama.
