On Saturday, May 5, the historic Mother African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church of Harlem will open its doors for a public celebration of the bicentennial of one of its earliest members–FREDERICK DOUGLASS. As one of many local, national, and federal commemorations, this will be a stand-out celebration bringing artists, activists, civil servants, historians, youth, seniors, and social and fraternal organizations together to offer their very best attributes to the community at large. A reception will conclude the event, and the illustrious roster of participants (still forming) will be on hand to speak to attendees and offer their books, CDs, etc. for sale. By registering for this free event, organizers will be able to keep you updated on performers and speakers.
