FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Psychology Department at the City University of New York, Queens College welcomes applications for an experienced ABA lecturer starting Fall 2023. The candidate will be expected to perform teaching and related faculty functions in the area of Applied Behavior Analysis coursework at primarily the undergraduate level. This will include contributing to the development of a new accelerated BA/MA program to exist alongside the current Master’s and Certificate programs in Applied Behavior Analysis. The candidate must be committed to maintaining the high quality education that helps students meet the requirements for licensure and/or certification in Applied Behavior Analysis.

The Psychology Department is the largest department on the Queens College campus servicing over 2,000 majors and offering a wide variety of courses aimed at providing students with an understanding of behavior that will later lay the foundation for a career in psychology. The major in psychology prepares students for (a) employment in such settings as residential and treatment programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or (b) higher education such as a Master’s program in Applied Behavior Analysis or doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. Students have ample opportunities to join research laboratories in a variety of psychology disciplines with some of the top researchers in the country.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates for the Psychology Lecturer position must have a doctoral degree in psychology, or related field, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis. Candidates must be certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BCBA or BCBA-D) and licensed, or eligible to become, a Licensed Behavior Analyst in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have a record of teaching behavior analytic or autism and developmental disabilities coursework, and demonstrated achivements and a general clinical license or are licensure eligible (e.g., clinical psychology, LCSW, MHC). Underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION

The anticipated salary for the position will range from $72,922 – $86,698 and will be commensurate with candidate qualifications

Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 — City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
