Nashville, TN Full-time with benefits. Salary range: $35,000 to $39,000
AASLH is a growing national nonprofit membership association with a primary focus on history professionals, history volunteers, museums, historical societies, and related organizations. The Membership and Office Coordinator serves as the liaison between AASLH members and the AASLH member database and provides team support for the staff. Coordinator offers front-line service to AASLH members and potential members and coordinates member mailings, renewals, and other vital communications. Additionally, they coordinate and/or carry out office processes, services, and activities.
Minimum two years cumulative work experience for a nonprofit membership association or a public history institution, such as a museum, historical society, humanities council, or a related agency, business, or institution. Knowledge of historical practices/methods, and professional skills or abilities related to one or more of the following is preferred: archives, libraries, historic preservation, historical interpretation, historical education, museum exhibits/curation, fundraising, cultural tourism, historical consulting, archaeology, cultural resource management, or oral history. Master’s in History, Public History, Museum Studies, or closely related field is preferred, but not required.
Membership & Office Coordinator must have strong customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time with attention to detail. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, and contact management systems, and advanced knowledge of Excel, preferred. Experience with Your Membership software is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Communications/Reception: Provide customer service to AASLH members and potential members as central receptionist and through general inquiry phone calls and emails.
Membership Services: Answer routine inquiries via phone and email regarding memberships and other customer services. Execute regular mailings/emailings to members and potential members including invoices, and new member kits.
Database Coordination: Answer inquiries via phone and email regarding Your Membership (database system) and Elevate (learning management system) usage. Coordinate input in the AASLH membership database, including, but not limited to, producing invoices, entering payments for all transactions in the database, and generating month-end reports and input verification.
Office Coordination: Prepare and distribute incoming mail; prepare outgoing mail, including bulk mailings of printed material, and packaging. Maintain the office’s working and archive files and keep current by filing, retrieving, and purging material.
Finance: Assist with daily check deposits and payment postings. Helps with financial reports requested by staff and accounting firm. Review and send open invoices monthly.
Annual Meeting: Serves as registration support for the Annual Meeting including producing registration materials/tickets and staffing registration desk at the event. Attends Annual Meeting in September. Other projects as assigned
