The Book: Hellfire Effect is on its way to becoming a Movie!

Hampton Roads Branch, under the leadership of, President Audrey P. Williams is proud to present to the ASALH Family, and others, W. J. Rogers, author, and an impressive young man! He is a Deacon and a member of our first Institutional Member in the Hampton Roads Area, First Baptist Church East End in Newport News, VA. under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev. Jamaar T. Jones. His Book: Hellfire Effect is amazing.

I have read the text twice initially and continue to revisit certain sections for further reflection and understanding. He has met and discussed his book with book clubs, churches, civic organizations throughout the local community and in other states, and with anyone that has read it and wants to ask a question that leads to a discussion.

The book has garnered exceptional reviews, not just locally but on a National Level. Therefore, I asked author, W. J. Rogers, to share his story about the writing of his book and what he sees in the future for it. My testimony is: “It is impressive, and we will read more about him and his other books in the future.” When you see his name in the future, know remarkable things are happening.

Here is the narrative that W. J Rogers, Author, has written. Know that I do share his vision for the future!

Hellfire Effect: What type of fictional story is Hellfire Effect?

INSIDE

Hellfire Effect is a unique story with a unique intent. Books have historically been created to provide entertainment or to convey specific knowledge. I believe every author who has published a book has or had a specific objective they hope will come to fruition. Their book would either be a bestseller or rich in informational content that would be life-altering for the reader. I certainly hope The Hellfire Effect falls into both those categories!

I understand the context of all books fits into one of two primary genres, fiction or non-fiction. What this means to me is that non-fiction provides information to educate or inform the reader. Readers are motivated to read these books because they have questions about the subject matter, or they seek to add more familiarity to their existing understanding or lack of understanding of the book’s subject matter.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the Bible. The Bible is a collection of religious texts and is in the religion category or classification. According to Guinness World Records, the Bible has been cited as the best-selling book of all time.

I describe fictional books as creative or imaginative stories to entertain the reader. This genre exists to captivate the reader and to inspire a visualization of the story. It’s my assessment that readers of fiction intuitively know that fictional stories are make-believe. The characters, scenes, periods, and interactions described in the book’s story are all fabricated. But to the reader, it can be a different experience.

Fictional stories are further classified as either romance, horror, science fiction, thriller, apocalypse, dystopian, mystery, comedy, etc. And there are fictional stories inspired by real events. Of the ones I’m familiar with, the stories in Sister Mother Warrior by Vanessa Riley were derived from historical references.

I have opted to classify Hellfire Effect as a mix of science fiction, thriller, and mystery with some key Christian references.

What inspired me to write Hellfire Effect?

Fearless to some is a positive or negative behavior that can result in life-or-death consequences. A house is on fire and without hesitation, someone runs in to save a soul; fearless! Then there’s an encounter of betrayal and without hesitation the life of one soul is taken away: also, fearless. Similar fearless behavior but drastically different outcomes. One situation is motivated by doing what is morally right, the other, doing what is morally wrong. Humanity would be more respectful if doing what is morally right was a strong motivator.

Now imagine if mankind were exposed to a new motivation that offsets the negative fearless attribute. Especially if fearless behavior results in murder. This is why I was inspired to write Hellfire Effect.

Book award recognition and future claims

Hellfire Effect has been recognized and selected as a 2025 PenCraft Seasonal Book Award winner. The PenCraft Seasonal Book Awards recognize books of remarkable literary quality, artistic excellence, and popularity with readers. Hellfire Effect exemplified these criteria as a winner in the forty-four genres. This is the first literary recognition, and more are expected to be received.

Hellfire Effect is currently being featured as a “Hot New Book” on Cushcity.com, a popular online book seller. I believe that this fictional story is one that would be a huge theatrical success. It is my vision to one day see Hellfire Effect in movie theaters around the world!
