We want to work with a creative, curious, and hard-working individual who is eager to lead Humanities Washington’s Speakers Bureau (SB) and Think & Drink Conversation (T&D) programs, as well as special initiatives as assigned, so that these programs remain centered on fostering quality and timely conversation and dialogue throughout Washington State, with an emphasis on equity, diversity and inclusion.


Essential Responsibilities
Speakers Bureau:
• Direct and help curate the biennial statewide search for new scholars.
• Oversee a biennial roster of scholars, cultural experts and speakers.
• Oversee a quarterly host site application system, including communicating with the speakers and partners, conducting quarterly application review sessions, and providing essential promotional tools to the approved partners.

Think & Drink:
• Produce events at various locations across the state, including recruiting and vetting appropriate speakers and moderators on humanities-based topics.
• Conduct research on each program topic and prepare the speakers/panelists and moderators for each event.

Innovate and build program capacity through continual process improvement.

Engage with development staff in program fundraising activities.

Assist the Associate Director in program evaluation, including outcomes and impact

Other duties as assigned.

Strategic Relationships
• Act as the primary liaison to the SB roster and T&D speakers/panelists, scholars and moderators.
• Manage relationships with varied program partners including library systems, museums, schools, colleges & universities, historical societies, community centers, retirement homes and various other non-profit organizations.
• In partnership with the Executive Director, act as program liaison to the board of
trustees’ program committee.
• Foster productive strategic relationships with program officers at other humanities
councils across the country.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required, with an advanced degree in the humanities preferred.
• Three years of program management experience in the non-profit sector required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products. Salesforce experience preferred.
• Willingness and the ability to travel occasionally within the state and very occasionally out-of- state.
• Strong attention to detail, as well as solid problem solving and analytical skills.
• Solid verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Familiarity with the nonprofit sector.
