The Department of History at Temple University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in the field of race and racism in crime, policing, and incarceration in the United States since 1787. The successful candidate will contribute to the history department’s undergraduate curriculum through existing and new courses in the history of race, criminal justice, and policing and to the graduate thematic cluster in urban, environmental, and cultural history. Applicants must hold or be completing a doctorate in History or related disciplines, including but not limited to African American Studies, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, and Urban Studies.

Candidates must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by August 1, 2022. A CV and a cover letter that outlines research interests, qualifications, and teaching experience and interests should be submitted to interfolio, The review of applications will begin on November 1. Writing samples and letters of recommendation will be requested after that date.
