The History Department and the African American Studies Program at The University of Iowa invite applications for a joint position in modern African American history at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate must have a record of research and scholarship in post-1877 African American history, be prepared to teach the lower-division African American history survey as well as upper-division and graduate courses on critical themes in modern African American history, and be prepared to engage the programmatic missions of both units.

Candidate must have a Ph.D. in History, African American Studies, or closely related field, in hand by August 1. Applicants will submit an online application at, please refer to requisition #71516.
