The History Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is seeking a full-time, academic-year, tenure-track Assistant Professor of African American history with a start date of September 12, 2019. Specialization and time period are open. Interdisciplinary, transnational, and comparative approaches to African American history welcome. Ability to develop new courses on race and ethnicity, and experience working with underrepresented students preferred. This position is part of a university-wide cluster of searches designed to increase curricular coverage of areas related to inclusion and diversity, as well as to promote inclusive teaching strategies across the university. The successful candidate will teach general education, upper-division, and graduate courses in African American history and the U.S. History survey.
