This February, as we mark the 100th anniversary of Black History Month in America, I am reminded of the brilliance and vision of Dr. Carter G. Woodson, who established Negro History Week in 1926. His intention was not only to encourage rigorous scholarship, but to challenge myths, misconceptions, and distorted narratives about Black people —affirming the truth of our stories, experiences, and contributions to this nation and the world.

Today, that mission remains as vital as ever. Capturing, preserving, and sharing the courageous, resilient, and innovative stories of African Americans is not simply important, it is essential.

For more than 40 years, the National Great Blacks In Wax Museum has been committed to telling these stories with uncompromising truth and unapologetic clarity. As we work to expand the Museum’s footprint and deepen our role in preserving hidden and untold histories, we recognize that this work is sustained by community and by people like you who believe these stories must endure.

gift of any amount this Black History Month is more than support for the Museum. It is an investment in truth, education, cultural preservation, and future generations who deserve to see themselves reflected in history with dignity and accuracy.

Thank you for standing with us and for helping ensure that these stories continue to be told boldly, truthfully, and without compromise.

With Gratitude,

Dr. Joanne M. Martin
