The History Department at Colorado College invites applications for a One-Year Visiting Assistant Professor position starting in August 2022. We seek candidates with expertise in U.S. history, with an emphasis on African American history. The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach six courses, each lasting for one 3.5-week block, during the 2022-2023 academic year. Applicants for this position will teach two survey courses in African American history as well as general surveys in U.S. History. Candidates should also be prepared to teach two courses in the college’s First Year Writing Program, grounded in the candidate’s scholarly and/or teaching interests. Candidates must have a PhD by the time of appointment.

One distinguishing feature of Colorado College is its Block Plan, in which professors teach, and students take, one course at a time.
