On Saturday, May 2nd, our treasurer, Dr. Patricia Patterson, presented a conceptual approach to establishing an ASALH Freedom School in Savannah. Weaving African American History and Culture, the community-based audience
of 15+ enjoyed her presentation, replete with history and artifacts. It was interactive, where Pat, a master teacher, ignited community interest in the ASALH concept of integrating the African American Freedom School into existing curricula and programs. Job well done, Dr. Patterson. We look forward to participating in the growth of a Savannah Yamacraw ASALH Freedom School.
