At the event, approximately 75 participants celebrated and discussed banned books selected by the presenters Dr. Janet Sims-Wood, Denise Rolark Barnes, Sydne Clark and facilitator,Rev.Brenda Girton-Mitchell. This engaging event was about embracing the freedom to read and celebrating the power of literature. Books discussed included This is Your Time by Ruby Bridges, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, and The 1619 Project by Nikole Hannah-Jones.
