Lonnie G. Bunch III, Secretary of the Smithsonian.
Lonnie G. Bunch III is the 14th Secretary of the Smithsonian. He assumed his position June 16, 2019. As Secretary, he oversees 19 museums, 21 libraries, the National Zoo, numerous research centers, and several education units and centers. Bunch was the founding director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture and is the first historian to be Secretary of the Institution. Click here for a full bio.

Maureen Bunyan is an Aruban-American Washington, D.C.-based television journalist. She was the lead co-anchor at WJLA-TV. Bunyan is a founder and board member of IWMF (International Women’s Media Foundation), a founder of the National Association of Black Journalists and President of Maureen Bunyan Communications, Inc. She was named a “Washingtonian of the Year” in 1992 and has been inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Washington Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, “The Silver Circle” of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), and the Broadcast Pioneers Club of Washington.
