The Karson Institute for Race, Peace & Social Justice invites you to join us on Wednesday, April 10 for our Third Annual Wilson Peace Symposium. The 2024 theme is Brown at 70: The Path Forward, a moment to celebrate and discuss the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision. This daylong event will be held at Loyola University Maryland, on the Evergreen Campus and portions of the program will be livestreamed. We will also host a Reception from 5:30-6:30 in HUG Lounge.
9a-1:15p The Wilson Peace Symposium will feature concurrent sessions on the history of the Brown v. Board decision and will showcase the video projects produced by our Backpack Journalists (7th graders from RPEMS). We will also celebrate Ella Baker Day with Messina and explore the impact of diversity in business with the Sellinger School.
6:30-8:00p Brown at 70: The Path Forward is our evening program, which will be held in McGuire Hall. It is an evening of artivism with music from Grammy-Award winning artists Claudia + Dan Zanes, readings about Brown from Baltimore City high school students, and a panel discussion exploring the road To and From the Brown decision.
