Carter G. Woodson Louisville ASALH Branch Meeting – “Legacy of Dr. Carter G. Woodson for Today”

The Carter G. Woodson Louisville, Kentucky ASALH (Association for the Study of African American Life and History) Branch is pleased to announce that Dr. Craig Woodson will be the speaker at its zoom December meeting to celebrate the birthday of our founder Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the father of Negro History Week, now African American History Month. Dr. Craig Woodson will speak on the “Legacy of Dr. Carter G. Woodson for Today.” Craig Woodson is President of the Rose Family Cleveland ASALH Branch and shares family connections with Carter G. Woodson as a member of the “white” side of the Woodson family. Dr. Craig Woodson is a scholar of African music with special study of African drumming. His non-profit work at www.DrumsofHumanity.org includes ways to help those interested in Black White Family Reconciliation specifically through drumming and music therapies. This work is based on his own Black White Woodson Family Reconcilition ‘Sankofa’ meeting held in 1998.

The chapter meeting featuring Dr. Craig Woodson will be on December 20 from 6:30 to 8pm. The meeting is open to all interested persons. Non-members are welcome to attend and learn more about ASALH.  In order to register, email Karl Ruttan, [email protected]
