Program at President Lincoln’s Cottage with Guest Speaker Lynne Jackson, President and Founder of the Dred Scott Heritage Foundation

April 9, 2025 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

On Wednesday, April 9, the Civil War Roundtable of D.C. and President Lincoln’s Cottage are hosting a special event featuring Lynne Jackson, President and Founder of the Dred Scott Heritage Foundation and great-great-granddaughter of Dred Scott. She will discuss the 11-year legal battle for freedom fought by Dred and Harriett Scott, and the foundation’s work promoting education, commemoration, and reconciliation.

At the start of the meeting, we will present the Ed Bearss Legacy Award to Loretta Neumann of the Alliance.

The event will be held at President Lincoln’s Cottage, the historic site where President Lincoln developed the Emancipation Proclamation. A reception will precede the presentation.

Attendance is free for members of either the Civil War Roundtable of D.C. or President Lincoln’s Cottage, and just $10 for non-members.
