Social Justice @ ASALH 103: Understanding the Black Diaspora
VirtualIn this session, Dr. Brock will introduce community members to the history of the Black Diaspora. This includes Africa, the Americas, Europe and various Asian and Pacific islands and nations. Participants of this workshop will gain an understanding of how racism and colonialism have impacted the entire world, and how the Haitian Revolution, African Independence and the Civil Rights/Black Power movements and Black Feminism have inspired transnationally.
Social Justice @ ASALH: How to Lead Social Justice
VirtualDr. Brock will share the ASALH Social Justice Toolkit with workshop attendees. She will review issues such as White Supremacy, Reparations, Abolition, and the Black Radical Tradition. Those who attend will gain access to a digital version of the toolkit, complete with Glossary, Resources for Workshop Leaders, and questions and prompts to pose to community members for reflection. The goal: to train all of us in the art of teaching and learning social justice.
