“A Page in the Life of an Advocate” is a Golden Buffalo Publications – Black History Month production. The 32-minute video addresses the historical motivation behind the advocacy to promote the preservation and presentation of Black American Military History. We placed special emphasis on the effort to gain the posthumous promotion for then Colonel Charles Young to brigadier general. The “What” factor in History is most important with the understanding of “Why.” The video addresses the “Why” factor behind the advocacy and the promotion.
We all agree that the preservation of history and its availability to the public are important. It is equally important that we support those doing the writing. In the video, we suggest the following four publications for your purchase and reading: “Black Officer in a Buffalo Soldier Regiment” by Brian Shellum; “Acting on Hope” by AV Hankins; “A Soldier’s Life” by Edna Cummings; and “The Montford Point Marines” by Joseph Geeter, III and Trevor Getz. The publications are available through Amazon. (See the following Link for the video presentation.)
