Dr. Beverly Washington Jones passed away today, July 19, 2020. After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at NC Central University, she made history by becoming the first Black woman to earn a PhD in History at UNC Chapel Hill. She went on to have a long and storied career at NCCU serving as a professor, provost, and interim chancellor. You can read more about her here: https://spectacularmag.
