He owned the eloquent Stradford Hotel, considered one of the finest Black hotels in America. At the time of the destruction of Black Wall Street, he was the richest businessman there. His memoirs take the reader through the turbulent period of Jim Crow and are a true testament to a man who refused to be subdued by racism and is a legacy of determination and success.
