The ASALH Annual Conference is an occasion to explore the history and culture of people of African descent. Our conference brings together more than one thousand people, including educators, students, community builders, business professionals, and others who share an abiding interest in learning about the contribution of African Americans to this nation and the world.

In this session, Dr. Brock will introduce community members to the history of the Black Diaspora. This includes Africa, the Americas, Europe and various Asian and Pacific islands and nations. Dr. Brock will share the ASALH Social Justice Toolkit with workshop attendees. She will review issues such as White Supremacy, Reparations, Abolition, and the Black Radical Tradition. Those who attend will gain access to a digital version of the toolkit, complete with Glossary, Resources for Workshop Leaders, and questions and prompts to pose to community members for reflection. The goal: to train all of us in the art of teaching and learning social justice.
