Executive Council Member Dr. Randall Jelks and Dr. Ayesha Hardison held a Black Love Symposium on the 80th Anniversary of the publication of Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God https://www.aaihs.org/zora-neale-hurstons-radical-black-love/ in September 2017.

Out of the symposium they put together two special issues in journals. The first is “Rethinking Black Love After E. Franklin Frazier” in Women, Gender and Families of Color https://muse.jhu.edu/article/743508 which came out this fall. The entire is now available online through ProjectMuse.

Our second volume just came out in The Langston Hughes Review (Journal of the Langston Hughes Society)  SPECIAL ISSUE: “Zora’s Legacy: Black Love as Critical and Creative Inquiry” last week published by Penn State University Press
