Friends of Moses Hall is thrilled to announce their upcoming benefit event featuring the premiere of the documentary short film: Help Us to Help Each Other, Lord: The Story of Morningstar Tabernacle No. 88 in Cabin John, Maryland.
This powerful film, written and directed by L. Paige Whitley, uncovers the rich history of Morningstar Tabernacle No. 88 and the vital role African American benevolent societies played during the era of racial segregation in Maryland. For the past two years, Paige has meticulously researched historical materials, unearthed rare images, and collected descendant narratives, breathing new life into the MT88 Minutes Book to share this little-known history.
Mark Your Calendar! The film will premiere on June 3 at Round House Theatre in Bethesda, MD!
This special event will not only celebrate the film’s release but also provide insight into its broader educational impact, including plans for screenings on local public television and in schools. The premiere will kick off a season of engaging Montgomery County events leading up to Juneteenth 2025.
