On November 14, 1960, six-year-old Ruby Bridges made history by becoming the first Black student to integrate William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans. Facing crowds of opposition, she courageously entered the school under the protection of four federal marshals, symbolizing a critical step in the fight for educational equality during the Civil Rights Movement. Her bravery not only captured national attention but also inspired Norman Rockwell’s 1964 painting “The Problem We All Live With”, which poignantly depicts the young girl walking to school amid signs of hate.
