The United States Postal Service cordially invites you to attend the Harriet Powers: Quiltmaker Commemorative Forever Stamps First Day of Issue Dedication Ceremony. #HarrietPowersStamp

Join us at the JW Marriott in Washington as we celebrate new Forever® stamps honoring quiltmaker and folk artist Harriet Powers. This event is being held in partnership with the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH).

The stamps feature details from Powers’ pictorial quilt of 1898, an intricate textile with biblical scenes, local folklore, and celestial wonders. Each stamp captures one of Powers’ story blocks, mirroring the shape of her quilt panels. The stamps were designed by longtime USPS art director Derry Noyes.
