Today officially marks the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month! As we close out this celebration, we’re proud to highlight the incredible contributions of Afro-Latinos like Virginia Brindis de Salas, whose legacy continues to inspire. Let’s carry forward the spirit of unity, culture, and heritage all year long. _Virginia Brindis de Salas was a prominent Afro-Uruguayan poet and a vital figure in Latin American literature. Her work, deeply rooted in Afro-Uruguayan identity, explored themes of racial injustice, cultural heritage, and the African diaspora. As one of the few Afro-Latino women publishing poetry in the early 20th century, she used her voice to highlight the struggles and resilience of Black communities in Uruguay.
