Author Gloria J. Browne-Marshall will participate in a Virtual Book Talk to discuss She Took Justice; The Black Woman, The Law, and Power 1619 to 1969 at the National Press Club on February 18, 2021 at 7 p.m. (EST). She Took Justice proves that The Black Woman liberated herself. Gloria will take you on a journey from the invasion of Africa into the Colonial period and the Civil Rights Movement. From Queen Nzingha to Shirley Chisholm and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Black Woman reveals power. This will be a ZOOM book talk and registration is required.

Gloria J. Browne-Marshall is a civil rights attorney, playwright, professor of Constitutional Law, and founding member of the Gender Studies faculty at John Jay College (CUNY). Prior to academia, she litigated cases for the Southern Poverty Law Center, Community Legal Services, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Inc. Gloria is the author of “She Took Justice – The Black Woman, The Law and Power”, and “The Voting Rights War” and “Race, Law, and American Society: 1607 to Present.” Gloria is also the playwright for the Pulitzer Center supported one-act play Shot: Caught-A-Soul.
