Bio:

Michelle Evans-Oliver brings over 20 years of experience in the financial, insurance, and marketing industries to her career as the President/Financial Advisor of The Oliver Financial Group. She has helped individuals all over the United States take control of their financial future and provides a financial legacy for their families. She assists clients in making appropriate financial decisions by listening to their needs and educating them on their financial options to build generational wealth and close the wealth gap. She believes that African Americans need financial advice to make better financial decisions and she had dedicated her life in doing so.

Michelle began her career at Life of Virginia and then spent time at Wachovia Bank and Securities, GE Financial, and Genworth Financial. She founded the Oliver Financial Group in 2005 and briefly merged her practice in with a firm in Richmond Virginia (2011). In 2014, she opened her doors again and revamped the Oliver Financial Group. Michelle focuses on speaking with women, families, and businesses about the connection between their finances and empowerment and wealth. She is passionate about promoting financial literacy and enjoys helping others make positive changes for both themselves and their families. Besides owning her own financial advisory business, she works for the State of Virginia as a Business Analyst. Michelle also loves serving her community and volunteers her time. She volunteers extensively with AARP Virginia.

In 2022, Michelle was selected as one of 15 individuals across the nation as a “Local AARP Black History Hero” honoree for AARP’s National Media Campaign. She was Richmond Free Press Black History Month’s “Personality of the Week” for her community involvement. In 2018, Michelle was acknowledged by AARP Virginia as “Rookie of the Year” and was Richmond Free Press “Personality of the Week”. Michelle was honored by Urban Views Weekly with the 2016 Visionary Award. She was also featured in 2016 in the Richmond Times Dispatch “People You Should Know” business section. She has been on several radio shows. Michelle is a casting agent that has helped cast African Americans on a national TV show called “Legacy List”. You will also see her play “Genealogist” on the show.

Her work has been quoted in several print and online magazines. Michelle has produced many articles on money management and life insurance for a variety of different publications. Some of the most notable have included: Bankrate.com, Black Enterprise Magazine, Essence Magazine, Heart and Soul Magazine, and the Richmond Times Dispatch Newspaper. Michelle also served as the CVS Pharmacy Personal Finance Expert Spokesperson. She is a 2020 graduate of New Leaders Council which is an organization dedicated to educating a new generation of leaders. Professionally, she is involved with the National Association of Professional Agents (NAPA) and Ladenburg Thalmann Women’s Financial Network. Her board experience has been with the Girl Scouts Commonwealth Virginia, Bizworks Business Incubator, Hungary Creek Middle School PTA, Glen Allen High School PTSA (President), and the Virginia Commonwealth University – Friends of the Library. She is the founder/charter President of the Richmond Branch of The Association for the Study of African American Life and History and is the Vice-President of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Greater Richmond Chapter. Michelle is a proud graduate of Virginia State University.
